Genetically modified potatoes are allowed to be cultivated in Europe

Europeans will be officialy fed of GMO

In brief: According to the Commission’s report, genetically modified potatoes will be used only in industry including processing it for animal feed.

European Commission has today accepted the cultivation of genetically modified potatoes in Europe. This kind of potatoes is made by German chemical company BASF. Commission however has noted that this kind of potatoes is supposed to be used just for industrial needs.

According to the Commission’s report, genetically modified potatoes will be used only in industry including processing it for animal feed. Meantime it is not provided for human consumption. Besides, European Commission has also accepted to sale in Europe three kinds of transgenic corn which are however prohibited to cultivate in Europe. Most of people however are against using genetically modified products. For example, 59% of Russians oppose using GMO in consumption products.
