Turkish prostitutes will get governmental support

In brief: If the results show that putanas are mostly forced to work, the Commission is ready to help them in employment.

Turkish authorities are going to employ the representatives of the oldest profession number of which in the country is more than 100 000. This is an initiative of governmental Commission on Human Rights.

The officials of the Commission on Human Rights of Turkish government plan to meet at least 3 000 prostitutes in order to define whether they work by force or not. If the results show that putanas are mostly forced to work, the Commission is ready to help them in employment.

According to the official data, there are 56 brothels in Turkey which employ about 3 000 prostitutes. Unofficial information tells however that the number of women of easy virtue is about 100 000.
