UN is going to press Iran by new sanctions

In brief: The US representative Susan Rice has explained that tightening of sanctions against Iran is necessary in order to make Iranian authorities open the nuclear program to the world community.

The USA has sent to the Security Council of the UN a project of the resolution on expanding sanctions against Iran. The measures proposed are to destabilize Iranian bank sector and other spheres of economy due to its refusal to stop uranium enrichment. The project is reconciled by the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia after long-lasting negotiations.

According to this resolution, it will be prohibited for Iran to make foreign investments in a row of strategic spheres. The inspection of Iranian trade ships will be allowed in the open sea and ports. Iranian bank operations will be strictly controlled and limited if need. It will be prohibited to open new foreign offices of Iranian banks if there are suspicions of their concerning to Iranian nuclear program.

Unfortunately, previous sanctions were ignored by most trade partners of Iran. Russia, in its turn, considers the project of resolution to be balanced because it was discussed basically. However, such sanctions may not be accepted by Brazil and Turkey, who are inconstant members of Security Council of the UN. The matter is, these countries have concluded treatment with Iran on export some nuclear fuel.
