ECB: Euro has good exchange rate
The exchange rate euro remains at current levels
In brief: Euro is a strong currency and a low exchange rate of euro / dollar does not threaten European countries. Weak euro and a strong dollar is a temporary phenomenon.Weak euro supports exports and reflects economic fundamentals, said on Monday, board member of the European Central Bank Joseph Makuch. “The euro is very close to the fundamental data, and this is a good exchange rate,” – said Makuch reporters, speaking on the sidelines of a conference in Vienna.
Euro has fallen to historic lows against the dollar in recent weeks because of economic problems within the euro area, and some raised questions about the viability of a common currency. But according to Makucha, a weak euro is beneficial eurozone in its recovery efforts following the global economic crisis. The euro exchange rate “supports our exports,” said the head of the Bank of Slovenia Makuch.
