U.S. stocks collapse: DJIA and S&P 500 began trading with a significant decrease

Today's session at the US stock markets opened with a significant decrease

In brief: DJIA along with the other major stock indexes began trading with a significant decrease today.

Today’s session at the major U.S. markets significantly decreased the stock indexes, such as Dow Jones Industrial Average. Investors of the world’s biggest platforms were waiting for the statistics from the labor market in hope of improving the situation with all markets.

However, weekly data on the number of primary applications for unemployment appeared to be considerably worse than forecast and so affected the opening of American session in the most negative way. Thus, the number of primary applications for unemployment benefits rose from 457 to 472 thousand during last week, despite it was expected that this number is going to shorten to 452 thousand. DJIA dropped by -112.23 (-1.15%), S&P 500 – by 0,27%, Nasdaq – on 0,35%. The maximum decrease on market among the shares included in the Top-30 demonstrated Kraft Foods securities, which fell by 0,9% by this time. Despite the significant decrease in all world markets, including European market, the EUR/USD pair shows steady growth. At 16:35 Moscow time this pair grew up on 1,13% to $ 1.237 per euro.
