Microsoft is going to stop Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2 support next year
The technical support for these series will end in July 2010
In brief: In order to promote new Windows 7, Microsoft announced the end of technical support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2.Company Microsoft reminded that technical support of Microsoft Windows 2000 Workstation and Server Editions will end next year. The same concerns Microsoft Windows XP SP2 operation system.
Though these OS could still be installed on the computers, from 13 July 2010 there will be no updates available and users would have to solve any possible questions and problems on their own.
Windows also offered to update existing Windows platforms to the Windows 7 version, publishing the official instruction in the internet. Microsoft executive Stephen Rose accentuated that this is possible for Windows Vista and Windows XP users only.
However, Windows XP SP3 will be supported until the end of 2014.
