Somalia: the country of conflicts

Several gun fights have occurred today in Mogadishu

In brief: The unexpected explosion of the devices caused deaths of at least three soldiers.

Pirates’ hijackings are not enough for poor Somalia. Today the aggressive fights have occurred in Mogadishu between peacekeepers of African Union and Islamic fundamentalists, the UPI informs.

The conflicts have been fixed in several parts of the capital of Somalia. Fighting groups have used weapons against one another. There have been no exact information about victims yet but it is for sure that there are dead and wounded people.

The conflict between peacekeepers and Islamists is going on just along with the break of the country. On the side of African Union are also the soldiers of the breakaway republic of Somaliland. The matter is the explosive devices have been found on the territory of Somaliland and then given to military troops. The unexpected explosion of the devices caused deaths of at least three soldiers and also others’ wounding.

“On the side of African Union are also the soldiers of the breakaway republic of Somaliland” thats very wrong information maria the somaliland region’s soldiers are not involved in southern Somalia conflict, the amisom(AU) are with the federal government soldiers against al shabab formations

I think countries like Ukraine, Poland, and Russia can do more to help the African Union and The Transitional Federal Somali government to train, equip, and help the country rebuild its institution. If history is any indication of what the former Eastern block has done for Somalia. The truth is more than 2/3 of the educated doctors, lawyers, engineers, and civil servants of form Said Barre’s Somali military regime was trained and education in the former U.S.S.R, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, and Marshal Tito’s now broken up country.

I think the Eastern Europe along with its newer democratic values, capitalist states, and states on the way to progress in the Western sense of the word. To help the Somalia government rebuild institutions such as educational and health institutions, maritime forces, or they could simply equip the troops the EU is training in neighbouring countries and all along East AFrica. I think that would deminish the global terror eminating from Al-Qaida affliates in Somalia and the Horn of Africa at large. It would also show that the Eastern European countries are over their melodram and self-pitty and now a capable force to be noticed and key players in global affairs and leadership.

The thing is Somalia has an internationally recognized government that is struggling to fight with the neo-Nazi Al-shabab and the world is watching these thugs overrun it. The EU and the USA, Italy, and UK are promising baby-steps for Somalia. I think much more needs to be done to help build strong Somali state that runs a capable army with commandoes units, and war planes that can bomb the living shit out of this fiesty terrorist all over the country and those fiest pirates. I don’t think that no nation did not fall victim to these pirates or terrorists. The world suffers because of them. But if you keep silent can selfish you are not going to make the problem go away.

I think so long that we decapitate the Somali government and undermine its authority much of the world would pay the price in terms of higher grocery store bill because globabl vital trade passes by Somalia and without a strong Somali navy these thugs will not say oh You are from Russia or China or Eastern Europe or Saudi Arabia or Yemen or Greece you will get a free pass. I think they will ask randsomes from every ship they catch. Ship insurance goes up and that gets passed to the average citizen of every nation that uses Somalia’s strategic shipping routes. So the choice is between training collectively the Somali navy i.e. equipping them with choppers and even old soveit style MiG21s and MiG 29s for chasing after these thugs into inland.

I think once these twin lunatics of fanatics and pirates are met by an equally powerful Somali government forces in land and on sea the world would see the dividends for the investment they made on Sheik Sharif’s government. I think it is about time that Somalia is allowed to have a government and its government is helped to rebuild institutions honestly and efficiently and I don’t think that you will see the problem of piracy or terrorism in the entire Horn of Africa.

My conclusion is Eastern Europe has expertise, military knowledge, some significant industrial progress, material knowledge, and technical know-how they are known to have in Africa from back the days of Warsaw and Africans generally know that. Somalis are no exception. So the choice for the people of Ukraine to be on the right side of history once again and help their brothers in the Somali government in Mogadishu. It makes business sense too. If all that is heard is the US, UK, Italy, France, and Germany in Africa then it would be very hard for countries like Ukraine or Poland to market themselves to Africans. They must be available both in times of war and in times of peace. Remember it is very hard to develop reputation. You already development that reputation in the continent in the Soveit Era as well concerned globalists. Now you can do it in the capitalist era you can market your goodwill to turn into future markets for your countries and the contacts and the people relations you establish now will be vital for your countries in Eastern and central Europe in the future.

I think Mr. Joseph you are absolutely right. We can do more and our leadership should do more. The problem of Somalia is not one that is solved with navy vessels trying to stablish rag-tag monitorng programs and Nairobi based Un agencies. We must engage the government in Mogadishu. And you are right. We need countries like Poland, Ukraine,Russia, and China to get involved and help the American and EU led training mission. I think we have the resources and if most countries pitched in to vet, equip, and rebuilt the Somali army whose Chief of Staff is the democratically selected moderate Sheik Sharif we can stop both the pressing issue of piracy and terrorism before it is too late.
