States of Latin America agreed on creating the independent community

Summit in Mexico has finished with the historical decision

In brief: The Head of State Council of Cuba Raul Castro has said this decision of the summit has historical value.

The heads of states of Latin America and the Caribbean agreed on creating the new regional block without participation of the USA and Canada. This decision has become a result of two day lasting summit in Mexico.

The initiator of the great community is the President of Mexico Felipe Calderon. The new community of Latin countries is being created to improve integration processes in South and Central America and is planned to be totally independent of the USA and the Organization of American States. The only country being under the question of taking part in the community is Columbia because of its close interests with the USA.

The Head of State Council of Cuba Raul Castro has said this decision of the summit has historical value. The official name of the new union, its statute, aims and political program are planned to be adopted while the process of its creating on the next summits in Venezuela and Chile in 2011 and 2012.
