Venezuela is ready to leave Inter-American Commission on Human Rights

Chavez won´t respond the rubbish

In brief: This report was called by Hugo Chavez “rubbish” and the organization – a politicized structure used by the USA.

The President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez has stated that his country is on the way to leave Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. This decision is caused by organization’s report criticizing Venezuela’s government.

The matter is that Inter-American Commission on Human Rights published on Wednesday, February, 24, the report about human rights limitations, political intolerance, hostility to dissidents, violence and impunity in Venezuela. This report was called by Hugo Chavez “rubbish” and the organization – a politicized structure used by the USA in order to attack governments of Latin countries. Venezuela’s President considers it is not worth responding.

Hugo Chavez has stated that Venezuela has to quit its membership in Inter-American Commission on Human Rights after such step. Secretary General of the Organization of American States has however proposed Venezuela to discuss the Commission’s conclusions.
