By the end of the trading session, the MSCI Asia Pacific index grew by 1.47% to 756.82 points. Japan’s Nikkei 225 saw growth by 2.05% to 9301.32 points. China’s Shanghai Composite increased by 1.54%, while Taiwan’s Taiex went up by 0.78%. South Corea’s Kospi gained 0.70%. India’s Sensex grew by 1.86%.

Thursday, October 2, the principal Asian markets, with the exception of Indonesian and Thai markets, closed in green. According to yesterday’s data, the ISM index grew in July from 55.5 to 56.3 points, surpassing analysts’ forecast of a decrease towards 53 points.

Australia’s largest travel agency Flight Centre has published data on record annual profits saying it expects to increase earnings next year. Thus, the company’s net profit after tax in the fiscal year to end June 30 was AUD 139, 9 million ($124 million).

Foster’s Group Ltd., the largest Australian producer of beer and wine, reported losses in the second half of the fiscal year after a writedown in its wine business. Brewing company’s net loss amounted to 820.1 million Australian dollars in the first half-year that ended in June, compared with a net profit of 27 million Australian dollars previous year, the company said.

Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM) shares rose to 59.70 points, gaining +0.81 (1.38%) in the first half of the trading session. At the same time, Australia’s largest oil refiner Caltex Australia has published data on a 50% slump in profits in the first half of 2010.
