Alcoa Inc. (NYSE: AA) shares lost up to 1%. JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) is reduced by 0.2%. American Express (NYSE: AXP) lost 0.45 against the background of banking instability in late trading.


British industry rises from its knees, – CBI

UK small and medium-sized companies in the manufacturing sector reported an increase in orders (including export orders) and 15-year high in May-July, which was supported by the recovery in commodity stocks. A stronger-than-expected rebound in world trade has driven the turnaround according to a study by manufacturers’ organisation EEF and accountants BDO, but the report warned investment by the sector will remain an “achilles heel”, falling by 14pc in 2010.

In the UK in May, the state budget deficit amounted to 16 billion at the expected 18 billion pounds sterling. Budget deficit in April, revised from 10 billion to 8.3 billion pounds. Net requirements of public sector borrowing in the UK in May amounted to 12 billion at the expected 20.5 billion pounds.
