In 2013, German carmaker Volkswagen plans to open a factory in China for the production of electric vehicles. In this regard, the company decided to significant staff changes: to compete with Daimler AG, also developed production of electric vehicles in China, a unit of Volkswagen in China headed by Karl Thomas Neumann.

Previously, Neumann led the department for the development of electric vehicles at the headquarters of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg. Prior to this he worked in the company of Continental, which manufactures car parts. However, this appointment has caused a series of other changes: Winfried Valand, former head of business units in China, aims to head the Board of Directors of Skoda Auto – the Czech unit of the concern. The post of the head of electric vehicles in the headquarters of Volkswagen appointed Rudolf Krebs. Previously, he led the division for the production of engines. However, the former head of Skoda Auto Reinhard Jung dismissed.
