Manufacturer of medical equipment Medtronic recorded for the first quarter to end June 30 an increase in net profits from $ 445 million, or 40 cents per share, previous year, to $ 830 million, or 76 cents per share.

Excluding certain items, Medtronic’a profit totaled 80 cents per share, coinciding with analysts’ average forecasts. However, sales showed a decline of 4% due to to general decline in world markets of health care products. At the same time, the world’s biggest advertising company WPP has published data on growth of profit in the first half of 2010 due to increased demand for advertising in the UK and the U.S. It is reported that WPP net profit rose by 39% to to 150.8 million pounds ($ 232.5 million). At the same time, WPP revenue increased by 3.5% to 4.44 billion pounds.
