First Russian-language TV-channel started in Cyprus

Cyprus will provide Europe with Russian-language broadcasting

In brief: The new channel broadcasting will facilitate adaptation of Russian-speaking people in Cyprus.

Yesterday on February, 25, the first Russian-language around-the-clock TV-channel RTCY started its work in Cyprus. The broadcasting of this channel will also cover Russia, Europe, USA, Canada, North Africa and Uzbekistan.

The Minister of trade of Cyprus Antonis Paschalides considers that the new channel broadcasting will facilitate adaptation of Russian-speaking people in Cyprus as well as attract more tourists and investors from Russia. Besides, the Minister has said that the activity of new broadcasting company gives support to country’s economics development.

According to the data of Russian Embassy in Cyprus, Russian-speaking people of the country is about 130 000 among all 800 000 people of the whole country. About half of them have Russian nationality.
